“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:1-3
When life gets crazy, let’s not rest in our own strength (our own strength isn’t really strength at all, if we’re honest).
We have the opportunity to turn to the living God.
He is rest for the weary. He alone can restore your soul.
[sweet friend...please, turn from trying to do this by yourself and rest in Him and the community He's given you. He loves you. And He didn't create you to try to fix this on your own.]

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”
Romans 5:8-11
If you were having a bad day, rejoice. Yep. Rejoice. Even if your day was the best day ever, yep. think about it. It just got better. Think about it.
When you were in your darkest moment, in sin, Christ died for you. He loves you. You were God’s enemy. And now, you are his child.
Rejoice.
Today, may you walk in the knowledge that you are reconciled to a merciful, intimate, loving God. And may that knowledge change everything about how you see this day He’s given you.

“I can tell you all about it.
And who shall I blame for this sweet and heavy trouble?
For every stupid struggle?
I don’t know.
I could tell you all about it.
I could tell you why I doubt it, and why I still believe it.
And why I need it.
And what the pharisees don’t see.”
-Pedro the Lion
Thought of the day: I need Jesus. And He loves me. Life is good.

[note about the picture: from groupa de Vida Tuesday night. We wrote down lies we believed about ourselves, then read scripture combating those lies...and then we painted over it--a beautiful representation of how Jesus takes the bad in our lives and uses it for good...and about how He truly does make all things new.]

There are some days that I feel like I can’t trust You
Father, heal me of my unbelief.

Sometimes You’re further than the moon
Sometimes You’re closer than my skin
And You surround me like a winter fog
You’ve come and burned me with a kiss
And my heart burns for You
And my heart burns…for You
And i’m so filthy with my sin
i carry pride like a disease
You know i’m stubborn, Lord, and i’m longing to be close
You burn me deeper than i know
Yep. I think that just about covers it.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by the yoke of slavery.”
Galatians 5:1
You’re free. Run toward Jesus…and don’t look back.

Another week away, my greatest fear.
I need the smell of summer,
I need its noises in my ears.

This changes everything.
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:6-8
We were powerless. So, we have no room for pride.
We have been redeemed in love. We have no room for self-pity .
But why do we still act like we don’t need the grace that we claim to live for?
Why do we act like we don’t have the love that He died to give us?
This changes everything–about how I live, think, interact. Everything.
Jesus, never let me forget Your gospel. It changes everything about who I am.

I was browsing www.PostSecret.com today and came across this secret.

“I wish my mother would die so I could kill myself without hurting anyone.”
Heartbreaking.
And I wish that you knew that you are loved. You are cherished..and you are worth it. You weren’t created to live in anguish. You were created for hope and life…and life in abundance.
To anyone who reads this and feels hopeless: Rescue is coming. There is hope and freedom in Jesus. He doesn’t lose.
He is faithful. He is Truth. And He is HERE. And he will never leave.
He is redeeming the bad in our lives to reveal His glory. He will set things right.
“And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.”
Revelation 21:3-5
Jesus is hope. He is rescue. He is coming. and He is making all things new.
